Hello
Hi, I'm Lori Westling, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, who is passionate about creating happy, relationship-based canine partnerships.
I have trained and shown my dogs in obedience, tracking, agility, herding and Nosework for almost 30 years. During that time I realized how important it is for dogs to have skills outside the ring as well as inside the ring. I consider these skills "Life Skills" and they are the foundation on which all training is based. I also learned how important it is to prepare our dogs for all the situations and experiences they might encounter in their lives.
Herding and Nosework are newer sports/activities to me. Nothing like tripping over livestock to keep you humble! Being new to a sport/activity reminds me that there is a learning curve in training mechanics. Things like holding a leash, managing a clicker and rewarding a dog can be challenging when you are new to it. I endeavor to make it fun to learn all these things. Training should always be fun!
I have also learned a lot about dogs through fostering. I have fostered quite a few dogs - from Chihuahuas to Pitbulls. I learned so much about different breeds and different training approaches during this time. I was fortunate that all my fosters found wonderful, forever homes.
I would love to share my knowledge with you and help you create a dog who is a joy to live with and a fun dog to take on adventures.
Best,
Lori
